4 Things You Should Know About the AmeriHealth Caritas Iowa Change
Last week, AmeriHealth Caritas announced they are ending their participation as a managed care provider (MCO) with the Iowa Health Link program. This means that if you currently receive MCO services through AmeriHealth Caritas in Iowa, you will need to choose a new MCO in order for your services to continue uninterrupted starting December 1, 2017.
Here’s what you should know:
1. If AmeriHealth Caritas is your MCO, you should be notified (if you haven’t been already) of the change and how to select a new MCO
2. There are two remaining MCO providers to choose from: UnitedHealth Care or Amerigroup
3. Hand-in-Hand will contract with the remaining 2 MCO providers in Iowa so you can count on the same fun activities and quality care you’ve come to expect from us. However, we can’t guarantee that all other providers (such as doctors, other programs similar to Hand-in-Hand, therapists, or home health services) will enroll with both, so you’ll want to check with your other providers to make an informed decision on which MCO to choose
4. Although you will need to make a decision about this before November 16, 2017 (in order for your services to continue uninterrupted starting December 1, 2017), you can change your MCO again for any reason until March 1, 2018
You’ll have three options for choosing your new MCO provider:
You can call Iowa Medicaid Member Services at 1-800-338-8366 to ask questions and make your choice through the automated system 24/7
You can complete the MCO enrollment form that’s provided with the letter from AmeriHealth Caritas and return it in the postage paid envelope
You can email IMEMemberServices@dhs.state.ia.us to make your change
Hand-in-Hand is here to help you with this change. If you have any questions about the MCO change or how it might affect you, please don’t hesitate to call or email Molly Steil Rowland: 563-332-8010 or email@example.com.
