Philanthropy Spotlight: Jim and Jayne Field

Jim and Jayne Field have been supporters of Hand in Hand since the early days of the organization giving tirelessly and supporting Hand in Hand’s vision to create an inclusive Quad Cities. They first learned about the mission from Vinnie Smith, one of the founders of the organization.

“We are not quite sure when we actually gave our first gift, but we are pretty sure the decision to be a supporter in any way possible was within minutes of first seeing Hand in Hand,” said the couple.

They say they enjoy giving to Hand in Hand because the impact of the work we do is so tangible and meaningful.  Hand in Hand is important to families in the Quad Cities community who are fortunate enough to encounter the organization. Jim and Jayne know  the organization serves a vital role for families and participants and has even had an impact in their own life as volunteers during camp and bowling.

“We often reminisce about the early camp days when us and our children had a chance to volunteer and be present at those unbelievably fun, exciting and hot summer days, as well as the competition we enjoyed on winter afternoons when the Hand in Hand bowlers would take the lanes.”

The Fields encourage others to volunteer and be a part of the organization like they have been. “Get involved with the organization and contribute in any way that you can, and I am sure you will experience the same enrichment that we have enjoyed.”

The couple believe in the power of philanthropy and support several other organizations in the Quad Cities but say Hand in Hand will always have a special place in their hearts, and they hope to uplift those organizations and others like Hand in Hand with their gifts.

“We firmly believe that there are many organizations such as Hand in Hand that work relatively anonymously throughout our communities but are absolutely essential in creating a better world for all.”
