Staff Spotlight: Kayla Hartz

Kayla is holding Everett in her arms and leaning over him. They are both smiling.

Kayla Hartz has served as Director of Licensed Programs at Hand in Hand for the past four years, but she has been a part of Hand in Hand for almost eleven years. Kayla first came to Hand in Hand as a volunteer, she then moved onto being a caregiver in the infant classroom, and eventually became assistant director before serving in her current role as Director of Licensed Programs. Her current position involves supervising and overseeing childcare and respite staff for all of the day programs.

Kayla’s favorite part of working with Hand in Hand is seeing the kids who come into the programs smiling and enjoying their experience. Kayla notes, “Hand in Hand definitely feels like a family atmosphere. When someone comes to Hand in Hand for any reason, staff or children, they end up staying for longer then they planned because of the experience that they have when they are here.”

When she is not working Kayla loves to spend time with her son, Everett, and family and friends. Additionally, she enjoys writing and has started a blog, which explores her sons recent diagnosis of a rare genetic disorder called Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome.  Stay tuned for an upcoming blog post from Kayla!
