It’s Ours

The working mom with two kids. Adults and children with and without disabilities. The staff member who finds meaning in their work. The Quad Cities as a whole. Hand in Hand belongs to all of us.

Our Mission

Empowering children and adults of all abilities to learn and grow by providing inclusive programs and supporting families.

Our Services

Hand in Hand provides a variety of programs for people of all abilities. Our spaces lead to life-altering experiences. Those experiences break barriers, heighten understanding, and increase empathy. Everyone leaves Hand in Hand stronger.

  • Our childcare and preschool program offers a safe, nurturing space where children of all abilities learn, play, and grow together. Through hands-on activities, we support social, emotional, and cognitive development with accessibility in mind. Our dedicated staff meets each child’s unique needs, fostering a strong sense of community and a love for learning.

  • Our school-age program offers a safe, accessible space for kids 5-18 to learn and grow after school, on no-school days, and during summer. Teens with Purpose provides a place for young adults to connect, build life skills, and work toward personal goals. Participants gain independence, socialize, and have fun, while parents enjoy peace of mind knowing their children are well cared for.

Participants enjoy games, crafts, sports, and community outings in a supportive setting that fosters socialization and learning. These programs also offer valuable respite for parents and caregivers.

  • Teens with Purpose (TWP) is a program that bridges the gap between our school-age childcare services and our adult dayhab program, People with Purpose. Tailored specifically for younger teens with disabilities, TWP supports participants as they transition into more independent roles—both within their communities and in their personal development. The program is hosted during after-school time during the school year but we also offer the Teens with Purpose program during the summer as well.

  • Camp is a two week summer program offered in July that allows children and adults with disabilities the opportunity to have the same fun summer experiences as their typically developing peers. Campers get to go canoeing, fishing, swimming, and more!
