15 Ways to Be a Part of Hand in Hand

Have you ever wondered how to get involved with Hand in Hand? Maybe you’ve volunteered at our Chili Cook-Off but don’t know what else to volunteer for. Maybe you’ve donated to us but want to get involved in person. Maybe you want to get involved virtually. Either way we’ve got an opportunity for you!

1.    Tell others about us.

Tell your friends, tell your family, tell your dentist. Help spread the word about our inclusive programs. You never know who may need our services or is looking to get involved with an organization like Hand in Hand.

2.    Follow us on social media.

Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to stay up to date with all our fun pictures, programs, and events.

3.    Talk about disability and inclusion at your company.

Our vision is to see an inclusive Quad Cities. That starts by building awareness for disabilities and telling people what inclusion is. Incorporate disability, equity, and inclusion training into your regular company training schedule. Amplify marginalized voices and really listen. Make an effort to hire people of all abilities.

4.    Sign up for our newsletter.

Head to our website and scroll down to the bottom of the home page to sign up for our newsletter so you can stay up to date with our programs and events.

5.    Forward our emails to a friend.

If you’re already receiving our emails share them with a friend. We always have information about our programs, events, and more.

6.    Tell us about your experience with us.

Are you a current or past participant or family? Have you volunteered with us? Are you a current donor? Let us know how Hand in Hand has impacted you. You can leave testimonials here.

7.    Volunteer

We’ve got plenty of opportunities to get involved. We have our Music Fest and Chili Cook-Off that you can volunteer at. We also offer volunteer opportunities in our regular programs. Do you want to rock babies? Do you want to read books to after school kids? Do you want to volunteer with our People with Purpose group? Sign up here to get more information.

8.    Leave a review.

Have you had a positive experience with our programs? We want to know! Leave us a Google review and let others know how we’ve impacted you.

9.    Support our programs with a donation.

We take donations year-round and have plenty of opportunities to donate including our end of year campaign and Birdies for Charity in the spring. Find our donation page here. We’ll also be starting a brand-new monthly giving program. Stay tuned for details!!

10. Join an event committee.

We currently have event committees for our Chili Cook-Off and Music Fest, and we always need the help. We need help getting sponsors, securing silent auction and raffle items, figuring out logistics for the day of the event, and more! Send Ashley an email at ashley@handinhandqc.org for more information.

11. Attend our events.

We have three major events each year. Follow the links below to learn more.

QCA Family Fair August 12th from 9 AM - Noon

12. Refer a family.

Do you know a family who may need childcare or school age care? Do you know someone who wants more to do during the evenings and weekends? Do you know an adult with a disability who wants to get more involved in their community? Tell them about Hand in Hand! We’d be happy to set up a tour and get them on our waiting list.

13. Refer a staff member.

We’re always hiring the best and the brightest and especially need seasonal help during the summer. Take a look at our jobs page for more details.

14. Connect us with other nonprofits.

Our People with Purpose adults are BUSY out in the community. On average, they do about 20-30 hours of volunteer work a month with other local nonprofits. Do you know of an organization who would make a great community partner and would love to have PWP come out and volunteer? Contact Kyle at kyle@handinhandqc.org to make a connection!

15. Give through our Amazon wish list.

We are always in need of supplies for our many programs. Check out our wish list page!
