Rhythm City Casino Wins Happy Joe Whitty Award

Rhythm City Casino Resort® was awarded the fifth annual Happy Joe Whitty Award at Hand in Hand’s 15th Annual Chili Cook-Off Saturday, February 3. The award is given to a company or organization in the Quad Cities that makes hiring people with disabilities a priority and contributes to the programs that provide people with disabilities opportunities to build their confidence, self-esteem, and provide social interaction.

“The Rhythm City team is both honored and grateful for this recognition. We believe that prioritizing the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in our workforce is not just a choice; it’s a commitment to creating a diverse, empowered, and thriving workplace for all”, commented Mo Hyder, Regional Vice President and GM.

Charlie Judge, a People with Purpose participant at Hand in Hand, has worked at Rhythm City Casino for about a year and a half and loves his time there. He currently works in the laundry department and says the team there is very supportive and is flexible and willing to make accommodations so he can get the most out of his work experience.

The Happy Joe Whitty Award was created in 2019 to honor Joe Whitty and all his work with the disability community. Past winners of the award include UnityPoint Health – Trinity’s Project Search, Happy Joe’s, Hy-Vee, and Lagomarcino’s and are voted on by volunteer committee members of the Chili Cook-Off.
