RSM Employees Give Back to Hand in Hand Through Power of Love Campaign

We’ve partnered with RSM US Foundation through September for their Power of Love Campaign. Not only are their employees volunteering with us to meet fundraising goals, but for every donation that comes through their donation page with the description “Davenport Power of Love”, funds will go back to Hand in Hand with a match from the RSM US Foundation!

Each year, each RSM office is invited to select a local charity to support through fundraising efforts during the months of August and September. Their Davenport office begins this process by sending an email to the whole office, encouraging employees to share charities they are passionate about and would like to see as the official charity for the upcoming year.

Once submissions are collected, a voting process is conducted to determine the final selection by the office. To be eligible, a charity must align with the RSM US Foundation’s mission of supporting organizations committed to creating a more stable environment for youth in the areas of hunger, housing, and health, which helps them succeed in education. The charity that best aligns with this mission and receives the most votes will be designated as the official charity of the year.

“Several employees who participated in Hand in Hand's camp over the years through our Abilities Employee Network Group expressed strong support for the organization. During the office vote, Hand in Hand received overwhelming approval,” said Grace Hoversten, Location Services Specialist for RSM US.

RSM Volunteers at This Year’s Camp

The Davenport RSM office has partnered with several local Quad Cities nonprofits in the past like Habitat for Humanity, Project Renewal, and last year raised over $56,000 for Hope at the BRICK House.

Employee champions in each of RSM’s local offices coordinate fun activities to encourage participation and help meet their fundraising goals. Their employees have enjoyed raising money through whiffle ball tournaments, bake sales, chili cook-offs, putt-putt contests, dance-a-thons and even pie-in-the-face challenges. Funds raised by employees are matched 50% by the RSM Foundation.

RSM employees are also encouraged to volunteer at the chosen organization through the Dollars for Doers program. For every hour an employee volunteers, RSM will donate $15 to the nonprofit.

“We encourage employee engagement by featuring representatives from the charity at select events and providing opportunities for direct interaction with our staff,” said Hoversten. “Hearing firsthand from the charity about how donations and volunteer efforts make a meaningful impact helps inspire employees to support and get involved.”

RSM Volunteers Helping at our Fareway Grill Fundraiser

RSM volunteers have joined us at each of our programs to spend time with our kids and adults, they have helped at our grill day fundraiser at the Bettendorf Fareway, helped at our volunteer appreciation event, and helped at our Crawford Brew Works guest bartending birthday bash. They’ve also spent time cleaning up our playgrounds and doing projects around all our locations. They even have several Lunch and Learns scheduled to learn more about Hand in Hand while doing a small project that helps give back to the organization.

“Volunteering is a key part of RSM’s corporate values, especially its commitment to stewardship- ‘leaving the firm and communities better than they were found’. Through initiatives like Power of Love, Dollars for Doers, and the Community Impact Fund, employees are empowered to support causes they care about, build leadership skills, and foster inclusion. These efforts reflect RSM’s dedication to meaningful community engagement and responsible corporate citizenship,” said Hoversten.

The public is even invited to participate in the fundraising. Donations made through the RSM Power of Love link and marked with the description “Davenport Power of Love”, will go back to Hand in Hand with a 25% match from the RSM US Foundation. People can also write a check payable to “RSM US Foundation” with “Davenport Power of Love” in the memo.

Since its inception in 2010, The Power of Love has raised over $48 million for charities that support education and organizations that support children and families in the areas of hunger, housing and health. In 2024 alone, they donated more than $5 million to over 100 deserving charities selected by their local offices.

Your donation to Power of Love will go to the RSM US Foundation, which will make every effort to distribute funds to the charity/charities your local office has selected for the 2025 Power of Love campaign at the end of the program.

However, RSM US Foundation retains the right to redirect donated funds as its Board deems necessary to fulfill its charitable mission and meet the needs of the local community.
