Staff Spotlight: Korryn Taghon

What is your current role at Hand in Hand?   

I help prepare snacks and lunches for the children.  I keep the kitchen clean and organized.

Can you tell us a little about your background and journey to your current role? 

I started coming to Hand in Hand as a participant in 2009.  I attended evening and weekend events and attended the afterschool program.  After High School I attended People with Purpose.  My roommate, Maddie, told me about a part time job in the kitchen and I applied.  I was so happy when they offered me the job.

What do you enjoy most about your work here?

I enjoy working with my team and making the kids happy by bringing them snacks and meals.

Could you share a memorable experience or accomplishment from your time with us? 

I am so happy and proud that I started out as a participant and now I am a working member of the team!

How do you approach challenges in your role? 

I continue to work on asking for help from my other team members. 

Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies or interests? 

I like to write in my journal and write stories.  I enjoy listening to music, watching TV blooper reels and spending time with my roommates, friends and family.

Who or what motivates you to do your best every day?  Knowing I am helping feed people and making them happy.  I want to be a good team member.
